James H. Heroy III, M.D., F.A.C.S.
James Harold Heroy, III, MD passed away unexpectedly on 3/13/2013.
Dr. Heroy joined Ear, Nose and Throat Consultants of Nevada in 1997 after moving to Las Vegas. We were fortunate to have such an experienced and dedicated physician as our colleague. Always a compassionate and committed doctor, he also brought with him an expansive wealth of knowledge and was a superb diagnostician. He enjoyed discussing the challenging cases as well as the success of his treatment. Jim's conversations were replete with interesting medical anecdotes based on his many years as a professor, surgeon and clinician. His advice, encouragement and exemplary professional conduct will be profoundly missed by the physicians at Ear, Nose and Throat Consultants.
Dr. Heroy was originally from New York State and graduated from Yale University where he completed his pre-medical studies. He received his M.D. from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After completing a surgical internship at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Dr. Heroy served in the United States Navy as a medical officer and surgeon. It was during this time that he became interested in the specialty of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery which he would practice for over 42 years. Dr. Heroy was accepted into the residency training program for this specialty at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital - consistently ranked as the best institution for Otolaryngology in the country. Subsequent to completing post-graduate training he continued in both academic teaching at Johns Hopkins as well as private practice in Maryland.
Dr. Heroy also lived an active and full life outside of medicine. An avid fly fisherman, he made an annual trip to Canada to enjoy this hobby. He was also an accomplished painter and photographer. Dr. Heroy especially enjoyed travel and learning about different cultures.
Jim will be greatly missed by all the physicians, staff and patients at Ear, Nose and Throat Consultants. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Karen and his entire family.
