Doctors

  • Dr. Steven E. Burdine

    Dr. Steven E. Burdine Received his undergraduate degree from Furman University in Greenville, SC. He received his medical training at The Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in Charleston and completed residency at the AnMed Health Family Medicine. Residency Program in Anderson, SC. Dr. Burdine completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Palmetto Health/University of SC Sports Medicine in Columbia, SC. He provided medical coverage for USC athletic teams during his fellow year, and currently serves as Team Physician for Rockingham Community College, Patrick Henry Community College, and Morehead High School. Dr. Burdine is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Steve and his wife, Laura, have two daughters, Charlotte and Violet.

  • Dr. Kevin P. Howard

    Dr. Kevin P. Howard M.D. from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He completed a three-year residency in family practice at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy, Michigan. He, his wife, Laurie, and their two children, Aaron and Justin, moved to Eden in 1985. Dr. Howard has a special interest in sports medicine, preventative medicine, and allergy. He is board certified in Family Practice and is a member of the AAFP and NCAFP. Dr. Howard serves as medical director of the Rockingham County Health Department, as Team Physician for Morehead Senior High School, and as Co-Director of the Morehead Nursing Center. Dr. Howard volunteers in the community, at his church, and on hospital committees.

  • Dr. Paul W. Sasser

    Dr. Paul W. Sasser a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing his studies in 1984. He completed a three-year family practice residency at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, and joined Dr. Howard in practice in 1987. Dr. Sasser has a special interest in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, and obesity management. He, his wife, Deborah, have children, Caleb, Anastasiya, Micah, Isaac, and Anna. Dr. Sasser is board certified in Family Practice, and is an active member of the AAFP, NCAFP, and CMDA. He is a church and community volunteer, serving as board chairman of the Rockingham Pregnancy Care Center.

  • Dr. Terry G. Daniel

    Dr. Terry G. Daniel completed his undergraduate studies and received his M.D. from West Virginia University. He completed a three-year residency at Carolinas Medical Center in family medicine in June 1991. Dr. Daniel, his wife, Cheryl, and children, Andrew, Emily, Peter, and John Mark, are very involved in their local church and volunteer in community activities. Dr. Daniel is an avid sportsman who enjoys all types of hunting and fishing. He is interested in all aspects of family medicine. Dr. Daniel is board certified in Family Medicine and is an active member of the AAFP and NCAFP. Along with Dr. Howard, Dr. Daniel serves as Co-Director of the Morehead Nursing Center.

  • Amy R. Boyd, PA-C

    Amy R. Boyd, PA-C A native of Beckley, WV, joined Dayspring in 2000. Amy received her BA in Biology from West Virginia University and her Physicians Assistant degree from Mountain State University in 1999. Amy and her husband are involved in their local church. Her special interests include pediatrics, adolescent medicine, women’s health and skin related concerns.

  • Katie E. Skillman, PA-C

    Katie E. Skillman, PA-CA native of High Point, NC, joined Dayspring in August 2007. Katie completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received a Masters in Public Health from UNC-Greensboro. She completed the Physician Assistant Program, obtaining a Masters in Medical Science, at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Katie is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is involved in the Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants. She enjoys playing tennis, spending time with friends and family, and is active in her local church.

  • Erin Jones Carroll, PA-C

    Erin Jones Carroll, PA-C A native of Patrick County, VA, joined Dayspring in April 2011. Erin received her BS in Health Sciences from James Madison University, and completed the Physician Assistant program at the Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Virginia, obtaining a Masters of Science degree. Erin is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Recently married, she and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors and with family and friends.

  • Miranda G. Worley, PA-C

    Miranda G. Worley, PA-C A native of Eden, NC, joined Dayspring in January 2013. Miranda completed her undergraduate studies at Greensboro College then attended Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Virginia, obtaining her Physician Assistant certification. Miranda previously worked at Johnson City Internal Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee for three years. Miranda, her husband and two daughters wanted to be closer to family as well as have the opportunity to give back to their home community. Miranda is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She enjoys spending time with her family and church community.

  • Alyssa M. Allwardt, PA-C

    Alyssa M. Allwardt, PA-C A native of Jackson County, MI, joined Dayspring in September 2015. Alyssa completed her B.S. in Biology at Saginaw Valley State University and then completed the Physician Assistant program at Central Michigan University, earning a M.S. degree. Alyssa is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She and her husband enjoy taking their dog for walks, playing worship music together, and spending time with loved ones. She is looking forward to caring for patients of all ages and being actively involved in the community.

Nurse Practitioners

    Donna Buist Donna Buist is a Nurse Practitioner. She completed her nursing degree and then an MBA in healthcare management. Her Doctor of Nursing Practice was received from the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Nursing in Charleston, SC in 2013. Donna is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has a special interest in maternal-child care completing her doctoral practice project in lactation. Donna enjoys tennis and family time spent with her husband Nigel and their three children in Eden.
